Welcome to our Centenary page! Celebrate 100 years of our club with a year packed full of events, competitions, and festivities. Stay informed and join us as we honour our past and look forward to the future.
After searching through the local newspaper archives, we have been able to ascertain that the first golf course in the Chorley area was established adjacent to Astley Park in 1907.
A set of Golf Plans for a new 18-hole golf course were discussed by local enthusiasts, and when the Shaw Hill estate became available in 1924, this was considered to be an ideal location.
The Shaw Hill golf course was opened on 20th June 1925 by Mr Bell, the Chairman of the Lancashire Golfing Union, who remarked on the palatial buildings, saying that they were "the envy of many other prestigious clubs".
Over the last 100 years, the course has been much appreciated by members and visitors alike and is generally regarded as one of the best parkland golf courses in Lancashire – a true test of golfing skills.
The members are looking forward to celebrating the Centenary of this wonderful golf course in 2025 with a series of golfing and social activities scheduled, and opportunities are available for local businesses to get involved in this special year.
